Christian Unified Schools is a place where Christ is preeminent. I wanted to work alongside a community that supported my love for teaching English and my passion for ministering to the hearts of students in order to build the kingdom of God.
I love this school! I love that the students are lead to grow academically, spiritually, and in character. The families here are amazing and it’s an honor to be able to work with and serve them.
My purpose is to build the kingdom of God by training His ambassadors. I love to read, talk walks around my mountain home, garden, and play piano.
I have been married to Pete for twenty-five years. We both grew up on the East coast. We have been blessed with a daughter, Hannah, and three sons; Eliott, Joshua, and Joseph. I love spending time by the ocean, the lake, or the pool. I like listening to books while taking care of household chores. I do not enjoy cooking. I like chocolate, peanut butter, and coffee. I like paddle boarding on the bay.
I felt I was called to work here. God definitely lined things up for me and made it very obvious this is where He wanted me to be. I wanted to work in a school where I could teach the WHOLE child–SPIRITUALLY, academically, emotionally, and physically, with a BIBLICAL worldview.
I love teaching from a Biblical perspective and encouraging children to seek and grow in the Lord and in His wisdom.
It is more my nature to teach Biblical truths with academics. I want to be able to incorporate Biblical truths into every lesson, every interaction, every opportunity with students. I want to be in a position where I can help foster a relationship between the Lord and my students and teach in an environment that encompasses the whole child. At Christian, students are known. They are not just occupying a seat, they are recognized, prayed for and cared for.
I choose to work for Christian Unified because I believe in teaching from a biblical worldview. An education built on Bible truths will encourage the next generation of Christians to go out into the world and share the good news of the gospel; loving the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:28-31).
I have a love for God and his Word, family time, camping (travel trailering), reading, learning, and being around people that challenge and grow me. Oh, and being in a flash mob is on my bucket list.
I work for Christian Unified because of the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the next generation! I love the opportunity to teach, mentor, and lead our students, and to keep their focus on God’s holy Word. The opportunity to work in a Christian environment where we can instill and embrace biblical world view daily is a dream come true.
I choose to work for Christian Unified because of its commitment to teaching children to think, learn, and live from a Biblical worldview. As a Christian Unified teacher, I am able to create a classroom where my students thrive in being all that God has created them to be, and where we strive to be a blessing to others and glorify God in all we do.

I fell in love with Christian Unified all the way back when I was a student on the West Campus. I love being able to teach the students the Word of God and help them grow in their relationship with Christ.
Our school focuses on offering an education to our families with high academics and strong Biblical values. It is a school that supports the whole development of students, physical, emotional, and academic while maintaining the Bible at the center of its teaching.

Christian Unified Schools of San Diego (CUSSD) is an outreach of and sponsored by Shadow Mountain Community Church (SMCC). The thirteen-member governing board of directors is composed of SMCC members who have been elected by its membership at the annual meeting. The school is a separate 501(c) 3 organization, which is supported and protected by the overarching policies of SMCC.

TEACHING STUDENTS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS, FACULTY, AND THE LOCAL CHURCH
Christian Education is a cooperative effort between parents, faculty, and the local church to develop the spiritual, environmental, and intellectual culture necessary for sound learning. Parents authorize both school and church to inspire, cultivate, consecrate, and instruct their children. By necessity, every teacher who teaches from a Biblical philosophy of schooling must exemplify the excellent teaching gifts and qualities of character and scholarship worthy of a wholehearted commitment to Christ. TEACHING STUDENTS TO THINK, LEARN, AND LIVE AS EFFECTIVE CHRISTIAN PEOPLE
Christian Education enlightens the understanding, corrects the temperament, forms the habits and manners, and prepares students for useful service. From a Christian worldview of presuppositions consistent with absolute Biblical truth, students learn to discern right action and thinking from which they then exercise a proper role in their families, the Body of Christ, and as citizens of the United States of America. GENERAL PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
Because we believe God’s Word is the primary source of truth and meaning, Christian Unified Schools of San Diego (CUSSD) seeks to operate based on Biblical principles. From God’s Word, perspective from the past, context for the present, and direction for the future is established.
Christian Unified Schools of San Diego believes that Jesus Christ is the Truth (John 14:6) and in Him as revealed in God’s Word, lives can be sanctified (John 17:17) and set apart to glorify God (I Corinthians 6:20). The Curriculum is rigorously developed, thoroughly documented, well-executed, and Biblically integrated. It is structured to provide interrelated disciplines. It incorporates the general philosophy, school-wide learning results, measurable objectives, instructional strategies, adequate resources, and appropriate assessments throughout. It is driven by policies and procedures. It includes a Biblical worldview and a Great Commission perspective.
The Methodology uses researched, best practices to incorporate knowledge with application through differentiated instruction aligned to cognitive development. It provides a dynamic, rich, creative learning environment. The parents and the church are the institutions charged with the education of children. Therefore, the parents are ultimately responsible for the physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, and social development of their child. The parents, by entrusting their students to the school, understand and support the philosophy, foundational statements, and school-wide policies.
