Christian Jr/Sr High School
James 1:12 ... "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to ...
I chose to work as a counselor in order to help kids discover their strengths and talents. Each student comes to school with different motivations. My job it is help students discover their interests and to support their goal formation while building a plan for the future.
I teach because it fills me so much joy to pour into the lives of children. At Christian I have the opportunity to share God’s word and speak Truth to the students. There is nothing more rewarding than to see children enjoy the subject I am teaching, and incorporate their Christian faith into what they are doing.
I believe in the whole-person approach to teaching, but this was never completely true for me in the public school setting. Now, as a teacher at Christian Junior High, I am able to truly fulfill this philosophy of teaching as I can teach academic subject matter, social-emotional concepts, and explore the spiritual life.
This is where God calls me to be. It is such a joy watching young souls and minds grow into the young adults God has created them to be. It's a joy to see students learn, succeed, and flourish and I love ASL and Jesus. So what better place than CHS to do what I love, teaching who I love, to serve the One I love.
Working at Christian has made me highly appreciative of the faith amongst our leadership and their drive to encourage the spiritual growth of our student body. My desire to work with students (whether spiritually or academically) is due to the great pleasure I derive in seeing their growth and, admittedly, in learning alongside them. Every teaching endeavor is also a learning one, and in order to keep the students well-trained, I must hone my edge as an instructor, which is always a fruitful and immensely satisfying endeavor.
I love kids (they are a big deal to Jesus) and I love school.
My family and I were missionaries in Kenya for 14 years before coming to Christian Unified Schools. We lived and worked at a school for missionary kids called Rift Valley Academy. I am a parent of three amazing kids:
I have one son who graduated from Christian in 2022, one son class of 2025, and a daughter class of 2029.
I value the opportunity to invest in San Diego’s Christian community and point the way to Christ through literature.
Christian Unified Schools is a place where Christ is preeminent. I wanted to work alongside a community that supported my love for teaching English and my passion for ministering to the hearts of students in order to build the kingdom of God.
I teach because the Lord has called me to use my story and testimony to reach and hopefully inspire our youth to be a light in a world of darkness.
I believe that God causes all things to work together for good and His purpose (Romans 8:28). It is this belief that brings me to teach at Christian Unified. I am excited to share my faith, love of learning, and experience as a teacher to the students of Christian Junior and Senior High.
God has given us an amazing world to inhabit. I love studying the complicated yet harmonious ways in which it works, and I consider it a great privilege to be able to share this joy with others through teaching.
I want to impact our students' lives. I love how sports can teach us major life lessons.
