I teach because it fills me so much joy to pour into the lives of children. At Christian I have the opportunity to share God’s word and speak Truth to the students. There is nothing more rewarding than to see children enjoy the subject I am teaching, and incorporate their Christian faith into what they are doing.
I love working at Christian Unified because here I am able to truly teach the whole child: academic, social, emotional, and spiritual. I am thrilled and honored to be helping students make a successful transition into Junior High, which is one of the most challenging times in a young person’s life. I believe that with love, fun, and discipline, students will grow into the wonderful people that God has designed them to be.
This is where God calls me to be. It is such a joy watching young souls and minds grow into the young adults God has created them to be. It’s a joy to see students learn, succeed, and flourish and I love ASL and Jesus. So what better place than CHS to do what I love, teaching who I love, to serve the One I love.
My family and I were missionaries in Kenya for 14 years before coming to Christian Unified Schools. We lived and worked at a school for missionary kids called Rift Valley Academy. I am a parent of three amazing kids:
I have one son who graduated from Christian in 2022, one son class of 2025, and a daughter class of 2029.
I teach because the Lord has called me to use my story and testimony to reach and hopefully inspire our youth to be a light in a world of darkness.
God has given us an amazing world to inhabit. I love studying the complicated yet harmonious ways in which it works, and I consider it a great privilege to be able to share this joy with others through teaching.

I have lunch two times a year with a former CHS student who is a full professor at Rice University.
I love math! Not only do I get to do math problems all day long, but I have the privilege of watching my students when they actually gain understanding of mathematical concept.
I love teaching Spanish and I love Jesus so Christian High is a great place for me to teach Spanish and share the love of God. Plus, I have always had a heart for adolescents and have been involved in Jr High/High School ministry for many years. I also love the community that comes out of working alongside other brothers and sisters in Christ.
I have a desire for students to grow both academically and spiritually. Not only do I want them to learn about history and think critically about it, but I also pray that my students grow in their knowledge of who they are and what they have in Christ.
Our 2020 eighth graders weren’t able to have an in-person promotion ceremony, but we celebrated online in this meaningful program, including awards, words from their teachers and administration, student testimonies, and more.

Christian Unified Schools of San Diego (CUSSD) is an outreach of and sponsored by Shadow Mountain Community Church (SMCC). The thirteen-member governing board of directors is composed of SMCC members who have been elected by its membership at the annual meeting. The school is a separate 501(c) 3 organization, which is supported and protected by the overarching policies of SMCC.

TEACHING STUDENTS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS, FACULTY, AND THE LOCAL CHURCH
Christian Education is a cooperative effort between parents, faculty, and the local church to develop the spiritual, environmental, and intellectual culture necessary for sound learning. Parents authorize both school and church to inspire, cultivate, consecrate, and instruct their children. By necessity, every teacher who teaches from a Biblical philosophy of schooling must exemplify the excellent teaching gifts and qualities of character and scholarship worthy of a wholehearted commitment to Christ. TEACHING STUDENTS TO THINK, LEARN, AND LIVE AS EFFECTIVE CHRISTIAN PEOPLE
Christian Education enlightens the understanding, corrects the temperament, forms the habits and manners, and prepares students for useful service. From a Christian worldview of presuppositions consistent with absolute Biblical truth, students learn to discern right action and thinking from which they then exercise a proper role in their families, the Body of Christ, and as citizens of the United States of America. Because we believe God’s Word is the primary source of truth and meaning, Christian Unified Schools of San Diego (CUSSD) seeks to operate based on Biblical principles. From God’s Word, perspective from the past, context for the present, and direction for the future is established.

The Curriculum is rigorously developed, thoroughly documented, well-executed, and Biblically integrated. It is structured to provide interrelated disciplines. It incorporates the general philosophy, school-wide learning results, measurable objectives, instructional strategies, adequate resources, and appropriate assessments throughout. The Methodology uses researched, best practices to incorporate knowledge with application through differentiated instruction aligned to cognitive development.
