Christian High School’s academic program includes honors and Advanced Placement courses in history, math, science, English, and art. The AP program offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Many colleges and universities grant placement and course credit for passed AP exams. Our honors and AP courses teach students to think critically and to develop important analytical skills.

Dual Credit Through Colorado Christian
Dual Credit courses are a great opportunity for students to get credit for college courses at a fraction of the cost. Our partnership with Colorado Christian University in providing Dual Credit courses will allow our graduates to enter college as freshmen (or even sophomores) with many credits or courses completed or waived. Make sure to consult specific colleges to be certain the courses transfer to meet the freshman and sophomore level requirements of the college or university.

Bible instruction is foundational at Christian High. Students take a Bible class every semester, and they participate in missions outreach in our community and around the world.  High school students attend a weekly chapel with student-led worship and carefully chosen speakers who demonstrate Christian leadership and influence in all walks of life.

ACADEMIC COUNSELING

Our Counseling Office provides guidance throughout the high school career, always with an eye on God’s plan for the next steps of college and career. Our goals is to help students discover their strengths and talents. Each student comes to school with different motivations, and through four years of careful academic counseling, we help students discover their interests and support their goal formation while building a plan for the future. Our counselors walk with students through everything from course selection to standardized testing to college research and applications.

Semester grades for both semesters are averaged into one grade.

A dual credit course can be used as a “safety net” if there is concern that your child may not pass the AP exam. Also, some colleges may be more likely to accept a Dual Credit course than an AP score.

WHY?

COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Community Service requirement is 20 hours per school year, served and documented as a Bible Class project worth 5% of the student’s Bible grade.

The Bible class Christian Service Project assignment is meant to team service to the community along with personal evangelism of those served. The assignment has several sections and a form to submit for Community Service credit at the end of the project. All materials (rubric and form) are provided by the Bible teachers in Google Classroom.

Twenty hours per year, a minimum of five hours of service per quarter, is required for all grade levels, 7-12. Hours can also be combined into one activity such as VBS (Summer Blast) or a mission trip. Hours can be served between the summer before school starts for the year and the first day of May.

The student’s cumulative hours of service show on their transcript. Community service hours are important as they may influence post high school decisions and outcomes.

*Community Service forms are available in Google Classroom, and paper copies are in the office.

IN MEMORY OF OUR FOUNDER

It is with sadness that we share that the co-founder of our school district, Dr. Beverly LaHaye, passed away on Sunday, April 14. She was 94 years old.

Beverly was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ all the days of her life, and God used her in extraordinary ways to make a difference in the world around her. Along with her husband Dr. Tim LaHaye, she worked to establish Christian Unified Schools at a time when Christian education was in its infancy. She had a vision to meet the need for God-honoring curriculum and teachers who modeled Christlikeness to the students in their care, and she worked tirelessly to that end.

In addition to her influence on our school district, Beverly was also the author of many books, the founder of Concerned Women for America, and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful and treasured member of Shadow Mountain Community Church, where she was honored recently during the GirlTime women’s event. As the audience stood to applaud, Beverly pointed upward, giving all of the glory to the God she served.
