August 28 Update with Video

Dear Parents,

We are so excited to finally open our school next week on Tuesday, September 1! It’s been a blessing to have our Elementary students back on campus this week and to hear their excitement. The CHS/CJHS team has been busy preparing for your return all summer, and I hope this email and video will give you a jump start on what to expect, and how you can prepare for the first day of school.

Here are a few key important things you need to know:

Schedule: Students will follow the C Day Schedule on Tuesday which means they will go to periods 1-4, and will follow the D Day Schedule on Wednesday, which means they will go to periods 5-8. (Please see attached block schedule).

We are a “healthy only campus” which means that if you have any flu-like symptoms, you will need to stay home. This allows us to provide the greatest level of normalcy and safety at CHS/CJHS.
Temperatures: We will take your student’s temperature at 4 different locations. All students grades 7-12 will be checked in their cars before you drop them off. All students grades 7-11 will enter at the guard gate and turn right and will be directed to be screened. All juniors will enter and turn right, and will be directed to the new Junior parking lot to be screened. Seniors will turn left as they pass the guard gate, and will be screened in the Senior lot. (See attached map)

Face Coverings: All staff and students grades 7-12 will need to wear a face-covering while on campus, especially in circumstances when within 6 feet of another person. Students can wear a face mask, face shield, and neck gaiter. Please avoid logos or inappropriate images on face coverings.

Social Distancing will be observed in classrooms, and where it is not possible, plexiglass providers have been put in place. Students will be expected to social distance in lines, in stairwells, during passing periods, and at lunchtime. Markings will be placed on seating areas and where students stand in line to assist with distancing.

New Safety and cleaning protocols have been put in place including the following:

  • All classrooms are equipped with “Cleaning Stations” that include disinfectant spray, wipes, and paper towels to be used to clean all high touch areas and surfaces between each class.
  • Evening janitorial staff will be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting the entire facility and all surfaces using non-toxic, EPA approved list “N” cleaners and foggers.
  • Students will be required to wash or sanitize their hands as they enter each class.
  • Students will be provided with individual supplies where possible, so that they will only touch or handle their own learning materials (e.g., textbooks, pens, equipment, etc. )

Procedures in classes have been changed to limit the student to student contact.

We realize that some of these changes bring challenges, but are committed to following our Safe Re-Opening Plan here at CHS/CJHS to safely bring our students back on campus. Mr. Conover and I will be hosting a virtual parent meeting on Thursday, August 27 at 5:00 PM and all parents are welcome. The purpose of this meet is to share this plan with you and address any questions you may have to help you feel at ease and prepared for the first day of school back on campus. Below is the link for the Google Meet on Thursday 8/27/20 @ 5:00 PM. If this time does not work for you, please feel free to respond to this email with your questions.

Please take a few minutes to view this video with your student, as you prepare for Tuesday.

I can’t wait to see you back on campus! God has definitely answered our prayers as we move forward with the 2020-2021 school year at CHS/CJHS under His guidance and direction.

Go Patriots!

Family Statement of Faith

  • The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs.  The Bible itself, as the inspired, inerrant, plenary, and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.  For purposes of CUSSD’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, Shadow Mountain Community Church is CUSSD’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
  • We believe that there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, and His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through the shedding of His blood, in His bodily resurrection on the third day, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and In His personal pre-millennial return to rapture His Church before the Tribulation and His glorious appearing to set up His Millennial Kingdom.
  • We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith, apart from works by the merit of the shed blood of Christ, and that the born-again believer is eternally secure in Christ.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the individual priesthood of the believer.
  • We believe life begins at conception.
  • We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning; the uniting of one biological man and one biological woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen. 2:18-25.)  We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a biological man and a biological woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4.)  We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
  • We believe that the Scripture dictates standards of sexual behavior. The unique roles of the male and female are clearly defined in Scripture. Any promiscuity, homosexuality, gender identity issues or other deviations from Biblical principles is a sin that is offensive to God (Matt. 5:18-19; I Cor. 6: 9-10, 19-20; Eph. 5:3-5; 1 Thess. 4:3-8).
