In January 2007, Christian High opened the doors to a new state-of-the-art media lab, complete with 22 new Intel Core 2 Duo iMacs that were custom built for video editing with Final Cut software. The lab offers the instruction and tools needed for students to shoot, edit and produce their own digital video projects. This course is in the vanguard of a variety of new classes CHS is offering in its continuing goal to expand learning opportunities.
The goal of the new media lab is to harness student creativity while instructing them in professional tools and techniques valuable both in and out of the classroom. Each participant is required to complete projects that demonstrate their newly learned skills. The projects have been designed to be educational as well as contribute to the entire student body. Students will create and edit news stories about school events and student life.
The media lab was made possible by the generous donations of past and present Christian High parents and alumni who believe in the value of providing access to current, popular and powerful tools. Along with access to video equipment, students receive daily classroom instruction, inspiring them to put forth their best efforts as they craft their projects. The students are excited to see their unique ideas come to life and we are excited to see the innovative achievements birthed out of this new course.
